The Essential Details of Backgammon Game Plans – Part Two

As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to shift your checkers carefully around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move her chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. After you’ve successfully constructed the prime to prevent the activity of the competitor, the competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions with hope to improve your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game technique utilizes alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game plan is commonly employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are moved is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
